"It's been an extremely busy stressful time at work. I've been out at weekends and haven't even considered a smoke. To say it has been easy is an understatement"
FACT: During 2009 conducted a survey of clients who consulted him to stop smoking. 96% of people who consulted Philip, stopped smoking and were still not smoking twelve months later.
It's unimportant how many cigarettes you smoke, or how long you have smoked for, Philip's unique approach to stopping you smoking will make the whole process painless, easy and fast, typically one session.
However, you do need to be committed to the process, be prepared to put some effort in and take FULL personal responsibility for stopping. It's not a magic wand!
Philip uses a mixture of cognitive techniques and hypnotherapy to help bring about lasting change.
The question Philip is most often asked
by clients wanting to stop smoking is:
“How successful is it?”
Philip's own success rate was 96%during 2009. However, the New Scientist published the results of an extensive clinical study on the most effective way to stop smoking. This study included 72,000 people. The results of those surveyed showed that 60% of people had stopped smoking with a single session of hypnotherapy. 24% stopped with Acupuncture, 10% with nicotine replacement therapy and 6% with will power alone. Using hypnotherapy to stop smoking will increase your chances of stopping smoking by 1000%, from 6% to 60%, proving this is the most effective way of beating the habit.

The second most popular question is:
"Can you stop me putting weight on?"
This is known as symptom substitution i.e. stopping one habit and starting another to replace it. There is some evidence to show that the metabolism does slow temporarily when you stop smoking. This may be responsible for a slight increase in weight; however this is very short lived and will not be responsible for significant weight gain.
Substitution happens because we all suffer some level of inner anxiety, which needs to be 'comforted'. Hence people often replace smoking with comfort eating. Does it have to be this way? Definitely NOT! You will be given suggestions whilst in hypnosis to substitute to something else to deal with any inner anxiety.
Philip's philosophy and approach to helping smokers
Philip believes smokers are similar to others with addiction
problems such as alcohol, gambling or drugs for example. There
is truly something within a person which seems totally out
of their control. There is a part of all smokers that truly
loves their habit even if it seems they have come to the end
of the road with cigarettes. And it is this part of you we
have to deal with, not the part that truly wants to stop. And
yes you do have to want to stop. No one can make you do anything
against your will, no matter what you have seen with stage
hypnotists.
Philip's approach has always been to treat each smoker individually.
Although it is the same habit, the reasons why you smoke and
have problems stopping are your own and what will help one
person will not necessarily help another. Ironically the answer
to your cure lies within yourself. Much of the session is
taken up finding out about you and what the factors are that
make it difficult for you to stop smoking. The session itself
is then focused on what Philip discovers about you. Generally the
more information you can give him, the more he can help you.
Those that live in Jersey will appreciate this is a small
Island and the last thing Philip needs are lots of people
coming to see him for treatment and telling their friends and colleagues
they have seen him and ‘it’ failed! The truth is
he needs you to succeed just as much as you do.
Comment from past client Maria,
"It's two weeks today since I came to you for hypnosis and I just wanted to send you a quick note of thanks. I have not even entertained a cigarette and as you said I have absolutely no cravings and health wise I feel so much better in myself already. I have had a couple of marital troubles in the past week and I have so much belief in myself I will not use anyone as an excuse to smoke. I am still listening to my CD as well. Once again, thank you and I will keep you informed as I go.
Comment from past client Margaret. (Margaret is retired and is living proof that age or the length of time you have smoked is no barrier to stopping)
"Four weeks today, so far so good. Thank you for having helped me to change my life. Fingers crossed I can keep it up. My daughter is over the moon".
Comment from past client Celine,
"I'm still a non smoker despite a sudden death in the family and the cat becoming ill. I could never have done it without you".
Comment from past client Vanessa,
"I am still smoke free and got very drunk last night but was not tempted at all so that’s good. Don’t feel deprived at the moment and don’t have any cravings....so far so good!!!"
