"I was on my way back from Gatwick yesterday and I thought of you. Not due to fear but more in reflection of how far I had come. This
was my second trip and I am away again in 3 weeks"
Similar phobias, such as emetophobia (fear of being sick), social phobia, social anxiety, shy bladder, fear of various animals can be treated with relative ease using Hypnotherapy, Pure-Analysis or The Thrive Programme.
“an external symbolic interpretation
of an internal anxiety”
You may be wondering what that means.
If you were bitten by a dog... you can
(but not necessarily will) develop a fear of dogs. Any time you see a dog in the future (even pictures or the sound of a dog can be enough) if you
suffer a 'huge' emotional response, this is probably a phobia. On the other hand, if you just felt a little nervous or uncomfortable when near a dog, this is more likely to just be a fear. The treatment for a phobia will be completely different to that of a fear.
Often
people know where their fear or phobia comes from; it may even serve
a good purpose sometimes. However many times a person is at
a complete loss to explain where their particular phobia came from. This is
because the original cause of the phobia has become displaced
many times since the original cause of the problem occurred.
The difference between a phobia and an irrational
fear is in the severity of the emotional response. A true
phobia will feel intense, uncontrollable, unendurable and
physical.
Both are unpleasant but from a therapeutic
point of view the distinction is important as the treatment
is different for each.
Irrational fears, where no unconscious cause
is suspected, are generally treated in one session with a
'Fast Phobia Cure' sometimes known as an 'unwind' and/or some hypnotherapy.
However with a full blown phobia, it is vital that the
original cause and bottled up emotions are found and that the person
‘releases’ this bottled up emotional energy.
This
takes several sessions. Once the bottled up emotion
is released
the phobia will disappear permanently.
For further information about this type of therapy known
as Pure-Analysis click here->
When Pure-Analysis can't be used for one reason or another, then techniques from the Thrive Programme will be taught to help you process your fear differently leading to a much more positive experience.
Philip is often asked why he can’t just
suggest a phobia away under hypnosis. This may be possible
with some people. There is unfortunately ‘a sting in
the tail’ with this approach. Should this work, the
original cause of the problem still exists within the person
and it needs expression. The person will quite simply move
from the old phobia to a new one which will probably be much
worse than the one they left behind! This is known as symptom
substitution.
Philip is a very experienced therapist who has helped hundreds of people to overcome their fears and phobias. You can rest assured your case will be treated professionally and with total confidentiality.
Comment from past client Christine who consulted with a fear of snakes
“I still can't quite believe my snake phobia has sort of dissolved. I've been many times into reptile house at the zoo. I've attended the 'snakes alive' time at the zoo with a python around a woman's neck. It's fantastic and I can't thank you enough. I’ve lost a stone in the bargain
too.”
Where a series of sessions are required because you are suffering with a full blown phobia £80 per session.
Where one session of Hypnotherapy is recommended, known as suggestion therapy, for an irrational fear the cost is £170
Phobias such as fear of flying, emetophobia, social phobia, shy bladder are more common than many people
realise. There is no need to continue living with this.
