Memory Enhancement of Traumatic Events with Forensic Hypnosis

Philip has been trained in an approach to memory enhancement known as Forensic and Investigative Memory-Enhancing Techniques (FIMET).

These techniques may or may not include the use of hypnosis depending upon whether the recollections are to be used in court as evidence. Courts tend to have a negative view when it comes to memories enhanced with the use of hypnosis. In those cases, relaxation techniques are employed which obtain very similar results. The approach taken will be fully discussed with you by Philip before any work is undertaken to ensure you get exactly what you need from the consultation.

Who might this type of approach be suitable for?

  • Someone who has experienced some form of traumatic incident(s) and are struggling to process it, or are suffering in some way as a consequence of it
  • Someone who has experienced some form of traumatic incident(s), and have poor memory recall (or none at all) about the experience(s)
  • Someone who has experienced some form of traumatic incident(s), have poor memory recall (or none at all) about the experience(s) and where the information gathered about the experience(s) may be used in Civil or Criminal legal proceeding

What is FIMET?

The approach is in no way suggestive or directive. It allows a person to recall an event or experience in a safe, calm, non judgmental atmosphere, using well researched proven memory enhancing and psychotherapeutic techniques.

Several of the techniques are used in cognitive interviews and enhanced cognitive interviews. These types of interviews tend to be used with cooperative witnesses to extract as much accurate information from a person as possible. These approaches are now widely used throughout the world and have replaced what would have been considered an interrogation in the past, which was a much less reliable way of gathering information.

A FIMET consultation aims to help clients to elicit as much information as possible surrounding an incident, when this information may be used in a police investigation and/or legal proceedings, without inadvertently creating memory distortions or inaccuracies. Should the information obtained in an interview be needed in a criminal or civil investigation, the consultation will be recorded.

Perhaps even more importantly, a FIMET session can provide the very best way for clients to process and move on from a traumatic incident(s).

What Kinds Of Things Can It Be Used For?

The types of things this may be used for, are for instance details or facts connected to a road traffic accident or perhaps a violent attack such as a rape or assault.

The techniques are completely safe and remarkable results can be obtained to help improve memory of a particular event or experience.
